I’ve spent the weekend in Amsterdam at Carnivale Brettanomyces learning about and drinking sour beers. Yeah, for the uninitiated that’s a thing!
It’s a great city and been a great experience, had a tour round Jopen, a great afternoon at Brouwerij ‘t IJ (I love this place, something very chilled out about being sat drinking great beer under a windmill!) and then in and out of classes at Brouwerij de Prael, an amazing goat and beer dinner in a church and then loads of beers and chats around the city in the usual haunts like the Beer Temple, Beer Koenig and In De Wildeman.
At the moment I’m running behind with my cask beers and bottling but once I catch up it’ll be time for my 3rd sour under the Oddities label. Lots of ideas to try out.
